The Brazilian bank BTG Pactual plans to launch its first ETF in Colombia in the second half of August, which will come at the "most economical price in the market." With this move, the entity seeks to replicate in the Colombian market the good performance achieved in Brazil and Chile, where it already has 32 and seven exchange-traded funds, respectively.

"I don't want to launch just one or two ETFs, I want to launch an entire platform with different assets and exposures," explained to 'Bloomberg' the partner of BTG Pactual and head of indexed funds and ETFs of BTG Pactual, Eduardo Miquelotti.

Currently, the bank manages around 25 billion dollars (21.695 billion euros) in the region between indexed funds and ETFs, of which 5 billion dollars (4.339 billion euros) come specifically from the business in Brazil.

Miquelotti has pointed out that this first ETF in Colombia will have a lower cost than the products of its local rivals, thanks to leveraging the same technological and operational infrastructure that the firm already uses in the Brazilian and Chilean markets.

Additionally, the Colombian ETF will use the liquidity of the stocks as the main criterion to determine the weighting of the values in the portfolio. The executive also considers expanding the range of products in Colombia in the coming months with new fixed-income ETFs, 'offshore' exposures, and Brazilian assets.
