The Official Spanish Chambers of Commerce Abroad have met at the Secretariat of State for Commerce with the aim of studying how to intensify support for Spanish companies in their expansion into international markets, in a scenario conditioned by the reconfiguration of value chains, economic security, and increasingly intense global competition.

The session, held within the framework of the Assembly of Official Spanish Chambers of Commerce Abroad, took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise and was opened by the Secretary of State for Commerce, Amparo López Senovilla, and the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, José Luis Bonet.

The meeting focused on several of the major challenges facing the internationalization of Spanish companies: the new geoeconomic scenario, tariff tensions, the resilience of supply chains, economic security, and the optimal use of public financial support instruments.

During her speech, López Senovilla emphasized that internationalization has established itself as a key lever for growth and resilience for the national economy. In this regard, she highlighted the "strength of the Spanish external sector despite the uncertainties of the international context."

She also insisted that companies that project themselves abroad are "more productive, innovate more, generate higher quality employment, and better face changes," which is why she considers direct support in destination to be crucial for expanding their presence in other markets.

For his part, the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, José Luis Bonet, highlighted the role of the Chambers of Commerce Abroad in promoting the internationalization of the economy and stressed the need to strengthen support for small and medium-sized enterprises in their process of international expansion.

"We are a country of SMEs, and the next leap in the internationalization of our economy involves helping them, accompanying them, and advising them in their international expansion with a more permanent and structural character," he remarked.

The day continued with the General Assemblies of Fececa and Fedecom, the federations that integrate the Official Spanish Chambers of Commerce in America and in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania, respectively.

With implantation in strategic markets spread across the planet, the network of Spanish Official Chambers of Commerce Abroad is made up of 44 Chambers in 42 countries.
