New Pescanova has officially announced the sale of its refrigerated products area in France to the Ecuadorian group Omarsa, specialized in the integrated production of shrimp and considered one of the largest exporters of this seafood in its country.

With this operation, the Galician multinational completes its exit from the refrigerated activity in the French market. However, it will retain ownership of the frozen unit, which will continue operating in France through its subsidiary Pescanova France.

As the company has recalled, this divestment is part of the "strategic asset review process" that the Group initiated at the beginning of the year, with the aim of "seeking greater efficiency and enhancing value creation," following the roadmap applied in recent years, "which has allowed the company to return to a positive net result."

From New Pescanova, they have emphasized that, with the sale of the refrigerated division to Omarsa, a "stable long-term investor" has been "prioritized" to ensure the continuity of the activity and the preservation of employment, as the agreement includes the incorporation of the entire workforce linked to this area.

At the same time, the transaction opens the door to greater future development of the division, given that Omarsa "is a reference operator in the sector" and has its own vannamei shrimp farms in Ecuador, in addition to being involved in an expansion plan in Europe.

The CEO of the Omarsa Group, Sandro Coglitore, has highlighted that "the operation represents an important strategic entry for Omarsa into the French refrigerated shrimp market," which will strengthen ties with its 'food service' and 'retail' customers.

For his part, the CEO of New Pescanova, Jorge Escudero, has emphasized this "step forward" within the group's plan to generate value, as it will allow him to focus on the assets considered strategic, with greater growth capacity, and strengthen the development of its frozen business in France.
