The percentage of citizens with some active debt has decreased by 7% in the last three years, now standing at 53%, according to the "IV Kruk Observatory. X-ray of indebtedness in Spain," prepared by Kruk España.

However, despite this reduction in the number of debtors, the average amount pending payment reaches the highest level since the beginning of the study, at 39,721 euros.

Additionally, the report reflects that the percentage of people who maintain two debts has climbed to 27%, the highest figure in the entire historical series, raising the average to 1.61 debts per individual.

The analysis also notes that the monthly payment capacity of debtors has improved, reaching an average of 417.7 euros per month, above the 402.2 euros recorded the previous year.

At the same time, Spaniards allocate an average of 7.97% of their monthly income to savings, and the percentage of indebted people decreases to 36%, the lowest record in the entire historical series of the observatory.

According to the study, 32% of the population perceives that their personal economic situation has worsened in the last year, compared to 19% who see an improvement. Furthermore, one in three debtors links their financial reality to emotions such as stress, guilt, or shame.

By debt profile, 8.6% of the total debtors are young people aged between 18 and 24 years. Within this group, one in two (50.9%) admits to having some unpaid debt, the highest percentage among all age groups.

Likewise, 61% of people aged between 45 and 54 years have some active debt, well above the national average (45%), and, according to the report, this group declares the highest levels of financial stress, reflecting the economic pressure of attending to both children and parents at the same time.

Finally, the study indicates that four out of ten indebted people (40.7%) aged 55 belong to this age group.
