Rural tourism accommodation expects to hang the "full house" sign, with occupancy levels of 100%, thanks to the solar eclipse on August 12. A very high turnout is also anticipated the day before and the day after the astronomical phenomenon.

This was stated by the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, at a press conference held this Monday, where he stressed that it is "a great event" with both scientific and cultural dimensions.

Hereu highlighted that the eclipse will cover an "enormous swathe" of the national territory, stretching from Galicia and Asturias to the Balearic Islands, passing through Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, southern Catalonia, and the Comunitat Valenciana.

The head of Industry and Tourism remarked that "it is a phenomenon that occurs every more than 300 years and, therefore, from an astronomical point of view, it is a very unique event," citing the notable impact that similar eclipses have had in other countries.

In relation to the August 12 eclipse, the minister explained that the Government has been working for several months on an interministerial commission to manage "environments that are not always accustomed to the impact of massive visits" and to be able to face "important challenges" in areas such as mobility, security, or fire prevention.
