The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, held this Wednesday a meeting with the president of the General Council of the Spanish Bar, Salvador González, in order to cooperate in promoting the regulation that will specify the Law that regulates the voluntary pathway to the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers (RETA) aimed at mutualists.
During the meeting, the head of Social Security emphasized the relevance of the Bar Council as a key interlocutor to gather and convey the proposals of mutualists in the regulatory development of this norm, which will also be submitted to public hearing once it is published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
Saiz has assured that “this Law conveys a message of hope and confidence to many professionals who were unprotected when accessing retirement and who, thanks to this reform, will be able to access the public pension system, with the guarantees that this entails.”
The Law, approved on July 23 in the Congress of Deputies, will make it possible for thousands of lawyers, architects, and other professionals to achieve adequate public pensions, by allowing them to transfer their contributions from professional mutualities to the public system through this pathway to the RETA.
At the end of the meeting, Saiz and González agreed to hold a new meeting in September with the aim of continuing to deepen this cooperation.
