The Association of Energy-Intensive Companies (AEGE) points out in its barometer that the cost of electricity for an energy-intensive industry in Spain is 91% higher than in France and is 11% above that recorded in Germany.

According to these figures, at the close of May, the final price of electricity for large industrial consumers in Spain reached 72.46 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh). This rate is equivalent to 1.9 times the 37.96 euros/MWh paid in France and 1.11 times the 65.08 euros/MWh in Germany.

AEGE emphasizes that Spanish energy-intensive consumers bear additional costs linked to system adjustment services that are not taken into account in France and Germany, which increases the competitive disadvantage by more than 21.67 euros/MWh.

Likewise, the association insists that the indirect CO2 compensations that German energy-intensive industries benefit from are much higher than those received by Spanish plants, which "are limited by budgetary unavailability."

In this regard, AEGE calculates that in Germany, energy-intensive companies receive indirect CO2 aid that exceeds that granted in Spain by approximately 21 euros/MWh.
