Bupa Mexico, subsidiary in the Aztec country of the British healthcare group Bupa, announced this Thursday that the Spanish Javier Ibáñez will be the new president of its board of directors. Ibáñez currently combines this position with that of general director and advisor of Sanitas Seguros, the Bupa division in Spain.
As stated in the press release sent, Ibáñez will assume the presidency while maintaining his responsibilities in both subsidiaries, after more than 15 years of experience within Bupa. During this time he has held, among others, the position of head of Products and Development and, since 2009, that of regional director of the northern area of Sanitas Seguros.
Since 2021 he has served as general director of Sanitas Seguros, a role from which he has managed to surpass the barrier of three million insured and strengthen the digital health ecosystem Blua, a service that is currently enjoyed by 100% of the Sanitas portfolio.
Ibáñez holds a degree in Economic and Business Sciences from the University of Deusto and has completed the Program for Leadership Development (PLD) at Harvard Business School, an academic program aimed at high-potential executives.
The appointment of Ibáñez is known after the announcement of Israel Ranero as the new general director of Bupa Mexico, effective September 1 and pending the necessary regulatory approval. The operation of the Sanitas parent company in Mexico totals more than 422,000 insured and has its own care provision through the Vitamédica network.
