The submarine S-82 "Narciso Monturiol", the second ship of the S-80 series of the Navy, has successfully carried out its first static immersion in waters near the Naval Base of La Algameca, in Cartagena (Murcia). This maneuver is part of the testing plan scheduled within its certification process, as communicated by Navantia.
In this phase of testing, technicians from Navantia have participated along with the test crew of the submarine. The main objective has been to check the behavior of the hull, the filling of the ballast tanks, and the stability of the ship in static immersion, necessary steps before moving on to the navigation tests in immersion.
From the company, they have emphasized that the S-80 program continues to progress in parallel with the rest of the submarines in the series.
Thus, during the month of July, the embarkation of the diesel engines of the submarine S-83 "Cosme García" took place.
There are three generator engines that, along with the main electric motor and the anaerobic propulsion system (AIP), make up the propulsion system of the S-80 submarines.
