During a phone conversation with the president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the monarch conveyed to his Egyptian counterpart "the importance of intensifying efforts to restore comprehensive calm in the region," according to the Hashemite Royal Court, which serves as the administrative and political link between the Hashemite sovereign and the country's institutions.
In the same vein, Abdullah II has focused on the situation suffered by the Palestinians in the West Bank and has stressed the need to "stop the unilateral measures" adopted by the Israeli authorities against the Palestinian population.
In recent hours, U.S. facilities and personnel deployed in Jordan have been the target of a missile attack, which has triggered a response from the president of the United States, Donald Trump, who has threatened to give "a brutal beating" to Iran after the "surprise attack."
The episode is part of an escalation of violence in the region, with actions against U.S. targets in various locations as retaliation for previous attacks launched by the U.S. military against Iranian territory.
