The Government of Lebanon has raised this Thursday to almost 3,090 the deceased and to about 9,400 the injured as a result of the attacks carried out by the Israeli Army on its territory since last March 2, despite the ceasefire in force agreed in mid-April and subsequently extended.
In its latest official count, the Ministry of Health has detailed that 3,089 people have lost their lives, including 116 healthcare workers, and that 9,397 have suffered injuries as a result of the bombings carried out by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), according to a statement collected by the state news agency NNA.
These figures do not include a new fatality who has died after being hit in an attack while riding a motorcycle on the road connecting Al Hush with Al Bazuriyé, in the district of Tyre, in the south of the country, according to the same agency.
The latest high-intensity escalation began on March 2, when the Shiite party-militia Hezbollah launched projectiles against Israeli territory in retaliation for the offensive initiated on February 28 by Israel and the United States against Iran. In response, the IDF has launched a military operation with bombings and a ground invasion over part of southern Lebanon.
Previously, both parties had agreed to a ceasefire in November 2024, after thirteen months of clashes triggered by the attacks of October 7, 2023. However, since then Israel has maintained recurrent bombings on Lebanese territory and the presence of troops in various points, alleging that its operations are directed against Hezbollah, while Beirut and the Shiite group repeatedly denounce these actions.
