The authorities of Germany have arrested on Wednesday an individual accused of belonging to a terrorist organization, who is attributed with having fought in the ranks of Islamic State in Iraq between 2016 and 2017.
The operation has been carried out in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg, located north of Frankfurt, by agents of the Federal Criminal Police Office, in compliance with an order issued by the Attorney General.
After his arrest, the suspect has been presented before an investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe, who has ordered his preventive detention due to his alleged connection with the jihadist group.
According to the investigations, the authorities maintain that the man would have joined Islamic State in Iraq, at the latest, at the beginning of 2016 and that he would have participated in combat in its ranks for approximately a year, until early 2017.
