Pakistani security forces have killed four alleged terrorists this Thursday in a new operation carried out in the North Waziristan region, near the border with Afghanistan. Among the deceased is a supposed commander of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group, known as the Pakistani Taliban.

Security sources consulted by the Pakistani newspaper "Dawn" have detailed that the operation was carried out in the Spinuam area. They also specified that the commander, identified as Umar, alias "Jan Mir," had a reward of three million Pakistani rupees (around 9,275 euros) on his head.

The suspect was accused of organizing several attacks against security forces and civilians, as well as of building bunkers and digging tunnels near a mosque in the area.

For years, the border strip with Afghanistan has become a hotbed of instability, largely due to the actions of the Pakistani Taliban. Islamabad has repeatedly accused India and the Afghan Taliban of supporting this organization, accusations that both New Delhi and Kabul have rejected.
