The Iranian Executive announced this Wednesday that it already has the formal response from the United States to its initiative to resume the dialogue process with a view to a peace agreement, just a few days after the U.S. president, Donald Trump, publicly expressed his rejection of the plan proposed by Tehran.
The spokesperson for the Iranian Government, Fatemé Mohajerani, indicated in a message disseminated on social media that the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, has delivered "a report" to the cabinet about his recent trip to the United States. She then added that Washington's response to that proposal has also arrived, without providing further details for now.
In that same message, Mohajerani defended Iran's diplomatic strategy "despite the enemy's efforts" to "isolate" the country, referring to the contacts maintained in New York. "Diplomatic efforts are being driven with determination to unlock the situation regarding foreign policy," she emphasized.
This announcement from Tehran comes after Trump rejected the "unacceptable" initiative presented by Iran to reactivate peace talks, which included, among other points, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within seven days once Washington accepted the conditions set by Tehran to advance towards that goal.
The proposal was made known during the 81st United Nations General Assembly, held last week in New York, in a context of blockage of negotiations, mainly mediated by Pakistan, to reach an agreement that ends the conflict triggered by the U.S.-Israeli offensive against Iran, which began unexpectedly on February 28.
