The Israeli Army carried out "a precision attack" on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, this Thursday, despite the ceasefire in effect since April. For the moment, the specific objective of the operation has not been publicly confirmed, although various Lebanese media indicate that it could be a high-ranking official of the Shiite party-militia Hezbollah, which has not yet issued an official reaction to the bombing.
"The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have launched precision attacks in Beirut," the Israeli Army stated in a brief note. According to information published by the newspaper 'L-Orient-Le Jour', the attack hit a residential building located in Chueifate, in the southern part of the Lebanese capital, and the possible target would be a commander of Hezbollah's rocket unit.
On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israeli forces are "intensifying" their offensive in Lebanese territory. Since the beginning of March, more than 3,200 people have lost their lives in Lebanon due to these attacks, despite the ceasefire in effect and the ongoing talks between Israel and the Lebanese government aimed at reaching a peace agreement.
