The account on the social network X of the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, captured by the United States and detained in New York, has put "the path of dialogue" in the spotlight this Sunday as a way to reinforce peace and coexistence in the country. The message comes a day after the Miraflores Palace and a sector of the opposition agreed to initiate a political negotiation process that will begin next week with a meeting in Caracas, the Venezuelan capital.

"We welcome all the path of dialogue that helps to consolidate peace, coexistence, and the meeting among Venezuelans. Let us make August a month of wonderful achievements, committed solidarity, dialogue, and spiritual rebirth," states the mentioned message published on Maduro's profile on the social network X.

The celebration of this upcoming meeting in Caracas, backed by the United States, was known this Saturday, following a first telephone contact held on Friday between the government coordinator of the conversations, Jorge Rodríguez, and the president of the National Assembly elected in 2015, Dinorah Figuera.

Both political actors have separately disseminated details of that call, which will serve as a starting point for a negotiation aimed at democratic transition, strengthening institutions, and addressing the aftermath of the double earthquake recorded on June 24.

However, within that opposition bloc, the leaders María Corina Machado and Edmundo González do not appear, who through a joint statement affirmed that neither of them is part of this dialogue mechanism.
