At least eleven people have been injured in the Najrán region, in southern Saudi Arabia, following an attack attributed to the Houthi militias from Yemen by the military coalition led by Riyadh, in a new episode of military escalation in the area.
The spokesman for the coalition, Turki al Maliki, has detailed that "Eleven civilians have been injured in the Najrán region, seven of them Saudi citizens, including a woman and a four-year-old boy with second-degree burns; one Yemeni citizen, two Egyptian citizens, and one expatriate Pakistani citizen, as a result of terrorist attacks by the Houthis, on Thursday, August 6, 2026".
In his official statement, Al Maliki emphasized that "the Houthi terrorist militia has carried out these terrorist attacks by indiscriminately bombing civilian targets," which constitutes, he stressed, "a flagrant violation of Customary International Humanitarian Law by deliberately attacking civilians and civilian property".
The spokesman added that "The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will continue to implement all deterrent measures against these terrorist aggressions in defense of civilians," making it clear that the alliance will maintain its military response to this type of offensive.
The reported attack has occurred in a desert area of Arabia near the border with Yemen and coincided with the day when the Houthi rebels claimed a series of rocket and drone attacks against military camps of the Yemeni government in the Marib and Hadramut governorates, to the east and north of the country.
Following these incidents, the Ministry of Defense of the internationally recognized Executive has reported "the death of 17 soldiers and officers" of the Armed Forces, as well as "the injuries suffered by others as a result of a terrorist attack launched by the Houthi militias using ballistic missiles and suicide aircraft".
