The President of the United States, Donald Trump, affirmed this Wednesday that talks with Iran are progressing positively and that progress is being made towards "denuclearization," although he chose not to offer additional information about the indirect contacts developed in Doha with Qatar's mediation.
"Iran's denuclearization is moving along well. They've had very good meetings, and we'll see," the US president indicated in statements from Andrews Air Force Base, before traveling to North Dakota.
The leader stressed that, at this stage of the dialogue with Tehran, both parties are going through a constructive moment. "We're getting along very well. So I call it denuclearization," he said about the ongoing process with Tehran for a final agreement to end hostilities and establish limits on the Iranian nuclear program.
Trump's words come as delegations from the United States and Iran have traveled to Qatar to hold indirect contacts, about which no further official details have emerged for now.
For its part, Tehran emphasizes that it is essential to respect the commitments set out in the preliminary agreement reached on June 18 between both parties for negotiations to continue advancing, while the Trump administration maintains pressure to achieve concrete steps in the nuclear field, including international inspections and the elimination of nuclear material.
