The United States Department of State has incorporated into its sanctions regime several individuals and military entities from Russia for violating U.S. legislation aimed at curbing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in Iran, Syria, and North Korea, known as INKSNA by its English acronym.
On the "blacklist" drawn up by Washington are five Russian citizens, as well as units of the Russian Ground Forces and various structures dependent on the Ministry of Defense, including the Main Directorate of Missiles and Artillery, along with other related military agencies.
Additionally, the Russian companies Gedion Alpha Company and International Invest Company have also been subject to sanctions for their alleged involvement in a network that facilitates the shipment of equipment, technology, supplies, and sensitive weaponry components to the countries covered by this regulation.
These punitive measures, in effect for more than a week, also extend to various entities and individuals from China, Iran, Malaysia, Syria, North Korea, and Taiwan, identified for their role in these activities.
The INKSNA law not only targets the directly mentioned states but also aims at third parties that transfer or trade with them goods, services, or technology subject to multilateral non-proliferation agreements on armament.
