The counselor of Development and Mobility of the Junta, Mario Muñoz-Atanet, has demanded this Saturday an "urgent" meeting with the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to address immediate measures on roads such as the AP-4, which, he has denounced, have turned into "permanent traffic jams."
In a message disseminated on the social network X and collected by Europa Press, Muñoz-Atanet has reacted to the traffic jams recorded on various Andalusian roads due to the Special Traffic Operation for the second summer getaway, and has formally requested the meeting with the head of Transport. "The Andalusians deserve solutions," he emphasized.
In this context, the General Directorate of Traffic estimates 1.22 million movements on Andalusian roads throughout this weekend. These movements have generated up to 20 kilometers of traffic jams on the AP-4 during the day. According to the DGT confirmed to Europa Press, at 5:00 PM there were no significant incidents reported on the Andalusian road network, except for 4 kilometers of delays on the A-4 highway towards Cádiz.
This weekend is the first in which the AP-4 highway has the shoulder expansion in a stretch of 8 kilometers, an intervention designed to favor the fluidity of traffic in the movements prior to the exit from the Las Cabezas de San Juan (Sevilla) link, towards Cádiz, in order to reinforce road safety and improve circulation at certain points and periods of high intensity.
At the same time, the deputy delegate of the Government of Spain in Sevilla, Francisco Toscano, defended this week the actions of the central Executive on the A-4 highway, of which he said he hopes that it "ceases to be what it is today" and becomes the "road of the south of the province of Sevilla."
In parallel, the PP and the CES have questioned the project of the new highway, which they have labeled as a "clearly insufficient" action, as it leaves out the accesses to Cádiz and considers that "it should be accompanied by the duplication of the A-471 towards Chipiona."
