The federal coordinator of Izquierda Unida (IU), Antonio Maíllo, has warned that the regional governments governed by PP and Vox could incur in a crime of prevarication if they refuse to accept the transfer of unaccompanied migrant minors from Ceuta, a mechanism provided for in the current regulations.
"The problem we have with the PP is that they have adopted the theses of Vox and now we have to see, not only that, but also that they are going to break the law and commit prevarication. Therefore, they are going to be criminals and crazies in the regional governments," he stated in an interview with Europa Press.
Maíllo has reminded that since 2025 a decree of measures in the face of migratory contingency has been in force, which establishes the relocation of migrant minors between autonomous communities in emergency scenarios, such as the one being experienced in Ceuta.
Criticism of the alignment of the PP with Vox

When asked about the rejection to host these minors expressed by regional vice presidents of Vox, such as Manuel Gavira (Andalusia) or Óscar Fernández (Extremadura), he reiterated that disobeying the norm means prevaricating and has criticized the formation of Santiago Abascal, which he has defined as the "banality of evil" for its "absolute lack of compassion" and for calls to "hunt them one by one," referring to words from the deputy José María Figaredo.
In this line, the leader of IU has emphasized that Vox's stance is "inhumane and cruel," while accusing the PP of alternating roles by "playing some days as the bad cop and other days as the good cop" through their "ambiguity" about whether or not they support the transfer to the peninsula of the migrant minors located in Ceuta.
Maíllo has reproached the popular party that they "have jumped the last resistances" and already fully assume "the ideological budgets of Vox," something that, in his view, is reflected in the conditions of the government pact in Andalusia, where Abascal's party directs the unit responsible for assessing victims of gender violence.
Furthermore, he has argued that this dynamic of the PP accepting the "denialist" postulates of Vox in the shared regional governments is the "announcement" of what could happen if they reached power at the state level.

Regarding the distribution of minor migrants from Ceuta, Maíllo has criticized the "shameful silence" of the Andalusian president, Juanma Moreno, highlighting that it is the vice president of Vox who is setting the position of the Junta on this matter.
He added that, at the state level, the PP faces "a problem," as the president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, himself is calling for "help" from the other autonomous communities and, however, his own party "does not provide it."
Regarding the warning from Junts, which maintains its veto on the reception of minor migrants after the massive entry into Ceuta, the coordinator of IU has denounced that it is positioned on the same "reactionary" level and in a "fight" with Aliança Catalana to see who is "more racist and xenophobic."
"We are in a clear case of xenophobia and aporophobia. Here we are talking about the rejection and contempt for the poor, let's not get it wrong, and in this, the right-wing, whether they call themselves Catalanists or Spanishists, are the same," he concluded.
