Morocco has linked the recent massive entries of migrants at the Ceuta border with the actions of "criminal organizations" and has emphasized that coordination with Spain in migration management is "exemplary," according to diplomatic sources from the Moroccan Embassy in Madrid who have indicated to Europa Press.
These sources insist that the latest attempts at irregular access to the autonomous city "do not respond, in any way, to a willingness of the Moroccan authorities to favor irregular immigration" and maintain that the movements would be mainly related to the activity of networks dedicated to human trafficking and the illicit trafficking of migrants.
According to their explanation, this reading has been reinforced after the recent ruling of the Spanish Supreme Court regarding the procedures for the return of people intercepted at sea, which would have been exploited by these networks to intensify their operations.
"Morocco does not favor or promote the irregular immigration of its nationals. It is the criminal organizations that take advantage of the vulnerability of these people, feeding false expectations and exposing them to serious risks to their life and integrity," the same sources have concluded.
