Nuevas Generaciones of the PP opens a new stage with Ignacio Dancausa at the helm. The Madrid leader will be proclaimed national president of the youth organization this Saturday during the closing of its XVI Congress, held at the Miguel Delibes Cultural Center in Valladolid.
Dancausa replaces Bea Fanjul, deputy for Biscay and president of NNGG since 2021. The handover comes after an internal process that began with three candidates and ended with a single candidacy to avoid a divided vote.
A unity candidacy to succeed Bea Fanjul
Ignacio Dancausa reached an agreement with Antonio Landáburu, president of Nuevas Generaciones in Murcia, and with Valencian deputy Candela Anglés.
The list places Dancausa in the presidency and Landáburu in the vice-presidency. Anglés also joins the new national team, while Alonso Nieto has been proposed as secretary general.
The pact closed the dispute between the different sectors of the organization. Dancausa had received the support of Isabel Díaz Ayuso's circle, while Landáburu represented a line closer to the outgoing leadership.
Who is Ignacio Dancausa?
Ignacio Dancausa is 25 years old, presides over Nuevas Generaciones of Madrid, and is a councilor for the Popular Party in Las Rozas.
He studied the double degree in Law and Political Science at the Complutense University of Madrid. His political profile has been built around ideological battles, social media communication, and the recovery of the PP's presence on university campuses.
Dancausa has set as priorities attracting new members, strengthening NNGG's digital activity, and increasing its presence in universities, towns, and social organizations. He has also identified housing, employment, and the difficulty of emancipation as the main problems of his generation.
The challenge of competing with Vox for young votes
The new president takes over an organization seeking to regain influence among younger voters.
The PP leadership wants Nuevas Generaciones to once again function as a breeding ground for leaders and as a platform to contest Vox for the political space on the right among those under 30.
Alberto Núñez Feijóo is participating in the closing of the Valladolid Congress, where he will formally endorse the new team. Dancausa has presented his project as a tool to mobilize young people and contribute to the PP president reaching La Moncloa.
