The president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, has explained the absence of the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, at the Capítulo Serenísimo of the LXXIV Festa do Albariño, held in Cambados (Pontevedra), referring to the events that occurred in recent days in Ceuta, with the arrival of tens of thousands of people from Morocco. At the same time, he has remembered those who lost their lives trying to reach Spain.
From the Pazo de Fefiñáns, at the closing ceremony of the Capítulo Serenísimo, the central and most solemn ceremony of the Festa do Albariño, one of the major enogastronomic events on the Galician coast and recognized as a Festival of International Tourist Interest, Rueda opened his speech with this reference to the situation in Ceuta.
Dressed in the honorary cape, the head of the Galician Executive has assumed the functions of Grand Master, a responsibility that is usually held by Feijóo, absent this year due to his "firm commitment to the current situation" in Ceuta, where he traveled this Saturday to follow the evolution of events firsthand.
During the event, Rueda presided over the investiture of the new Damas e Cabaleiros do Albariño: the winemaker and mayor of Ribadumia, Davis Castro; the ambassador of China in Spain, Yao Ying; the surgeon from A Coruña, Diego González; the councilor of Infrastructure and Housing, María Martínez Allegue; and the president of Celta, Marián Mouriño.
