The spokesperson for Esquerra Republicana (ERC) in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, warned this Wednesday that he will examine "in backlight" and "down to the last comma" the housing decrees approved by the Government that will be put to a vote this Friday, and he has refused to guarantee his support, regardless of what is being conveyed from the party leadership in Barcelona.
"We are going to review down to the last comma the texts from the PSOE, they need to be looked at in backlight just in case," the republican leader pointed out in the corridors of the Lower House, insisting that his position will depend on the final content of the regulations.
Even so, the independentist deputy believes that the general decree of measures regarding housing incorporates a good part of the demands raised by ERC and has emphasized that the one regarding the automatic extension of rental contracts is "key" for him.
Despite this, he has avoided committing to a firm support for the decrees, distancing himself from the statements coming from the ERC leadership in Barcelona: "I don't care who I contradict, I am going to read it down to the last comma," he reiterated, making it clear that he will maintain his own criteria.
Rufián has also criticized the delay in the publication of the second decree, something that, in his opinion, evidences operational problems in the Executive and that the Council of Ministers itself "is a disaster." "Everyone knows it," he added, raising the tone of his criticisms.
