The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has requested to speak before the Plenary of the Congress in order to detail the Executive's position regarding the conflict in the Middle East, according to sources from Moncloa. It has been the Secretary of State for relations with the Cortes, Rafael Simancas, who registered this Friday the request in the Lower House.

Sánchez will give explanations to the parliamentary groups after the attack by Israel and the United States on Iran last Saturday that has unleashed a wave of bombings in the region. Sánchez has shown his rejection of the conflict and refuses to allow Washington to use the military bases of Rota and Morón for this operation.

Nevertheless, the Government has ordered the deployment of the frigate 'Cristóbal Colón' to Cyprus, along with military personnel from France and Greece after an Iranian-made drone impacted a British military base located on this island, a country member of the European Union.

Sánchez will also use this appearance to report on the last meeting of the European Council which was held in Alden Biesen castle (Belgium) in February.

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, under the provisions of article 203 of the Congress Rules of Procedure, has requested to appear before the Plenary of the Chamber to report on the Government's position regarding the Middle East conflict and also on the last meeting of the European Council.
