The third vice president of the Junta de Andalucía and counselor of Economy, Finance, and European Funds, as well as spokesperson for the Andalusian Executive, Carolina España, reiterated this Monday her demand that the general secretary of PSOE-A, María Jesús Montero, provide explanations about her connection with the former president of the Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, indicted for the rescue of the airline Plus Ultra.
In a message disseminated on her official account on the social network 'X', España emphasized the seriousness of the latest revelations regarding this case. "The information that continues to come to light is very serious. Spain deserves transparency, explanations, and accountability," she wrote. Following that, she warned that "We cannot wait for the end of the holidays or for Pedro Sánchez to finish listening to his playlist," thus concluding her intervention on social media.
The spokesperson for the Andalusian Government had already recently demanded that Montero clarify her role in the rescue operation of the airline, approved when she held the Finance portfolio and was the "highest responsible" for SEPI, the public body that participated in the aid to Plus Ultra.
In one of the latest appearances after the Council of Government, España accused the socialist environment of trying to divert attention from the matter. "No matter how much distraction, no matter how many smoke screens and how much artifice, what they cannot hide is (José Luis) Abalos, (Santos) Cerdán, and (José Luis Rodríguez) Zapatero," the Andalusian leader insisted at that time.
In that same vein, she recalled some statements from Montero in which the socialist leader claimed that the former president "was her talisman, that brought her luck and that she aspired to resemble him in the future; it is all said."
Carolina España concluded by pointing to the uncertainties that, in her opinion, still surround the case and the figure of the former president of the Government. "One day we will know who Mr. Rodríguez Zapatero was talking to," the spokesperson added.
