The Government spokesperson and Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, reaffirmed this Tuesday the Executive's "confidence" in the Director General of the Civil Guard, who is being investigated in the so-called 'Leire case', insisting that she has already offered "explanations".
In the press conference after the Council of Ministers, and when questioned about whether the Government rules out her dismissal and how it responds to the demands of its partners Sumar and Podemos, who are calling for the departure of the head of the Armed Institute, Saiz stated that her position is clear: "To reiterate confidence in a magnificent professional who has provided explanations and will continue to do so".
The spokesperson minister focused on the fact that Mercedes González —charged by the judge in the 'Leire Díez case' for alleged crimes of prevarication and obstruction of justice— has already explained herself publicly and will continue to do so, highlighting that the Government supports her actions.
After these considerations, Saiz specified that she does not share the "reflection" of the PSOE's parliamentary partners and closed the debate with a resounding message: "From the Government, we convey confidence in the Director General of the Civil Guard".
