The former Minister of Defense Federico Trillo has urged the Government of Spain this Monday to demand "international responsibility" from Morocco for "the illegitimate and illegal invasion" of Ceuta and has warned that, if action is not taken in this regard, both countries "have in hand" some kind of hidden understanding.
In an interview on "Antena 3", reported by Europa Press, the former minister reiterated that the Spanish Executive must convey to both the European Union and "the world" the demand for international responsibility from Morocco, in response to the massive entry of irregular migrants into the autonomous city.
"As long as that is not done, I do not believe any of the excuses from Sánchez, nor from Marlaska, nor from any of them," he pointed out, thus questioning the actions of the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior following what happened in Ceuta.
Trillo emphasized that the Prime Minister "has acknowledged" that what happened in Ceuta was "an illegitimate invasion, with a violation of the borders of the national territory." He added that "it is also an absolutely illegitimate and illegal occupation of a Spanish city and a dereliction of duty by the Government in the face of a clear organization on the other side of the border of the secret services, again the police and even the Army of the Moroccans."
The former minister reproached Pedro Sánchez's Executive "what they have to hide or what they have offered" in light of what he considers a lack of transparency, especially after the "cession" of the Sahara, and emphasized that, in his opinion, Morocco seeks "to negotiate the handing over of Ceuta and Melilla."
In this scenario, Trillo reiterated the need to demand "responsibilities" from the neighboring country for the migratory crisis in Ceuta and linked this demand to the defense of Spanish sovereignty over the two autonomous cities.
