The Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, has called for the regulation of seasonal rentals, which the Comuns have "managed" to advance in Catalonia, to be extended to the entire Spanish territory.

Urtasun spoke this Sunday at an event organized by the Comuns in El Prat de Llobregat (Barcelona), which was also attended by the president of the group in the Parliament, Jéssica Albiach, the mayor of El Prat de Llobregat, Alba Bou, and the coordinators in Baix Llobregat, Sílvia López and Albert Guasch.

According to his statement, the cost of housing in so-called stressed areas has not increased as much in Catalonia due to the measures promoted by the Comuns, and he emphasized that this is the model that, in his opinion, should now be transferred to the rest of the country.

"The policies that are currently applied in Catalonia, some of which we, the Comuns, have imposed from the Parliament of Catalonia, from the Government of the Generalitat, are some of those we need to apply to the rest of Spain, starting with the regulation of seasonal rentals, which remains pending in Spain," Urtasun argued.

MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS 2027

In his speech, he also addressed the municipal elections scheduled for 2027, warning that there is a "risk" that the far-right could gain ground in neighborhoods and cities across the country with the aim of disrupting coexistence.

Faced with this scenario, he stated that the Comuns are committed to raising an "anti-fascist barrier" to prevent it, and expressed his confidence that the party will manage to establish itself in more municipalities than in previous local elections.
