The Córdoba company Cosigein SL (CSG Ingenieria), based in Córdoba TechPark, has participated in a collaborative project that seeks to create, through artificial intelligence (AI) and cutting-edge digital technologies, a pioneering solution capable of anticipating rollover risk situations in heavy vehicles before the accident occurs.

As highlighted by the entity, the project, called Antivuelco, Algorithms for predicting dynamic stability for intelligent vehicles in complex operational environments, has been developed by a consortium formed by the TIC Asturias Cluster and the European cluster Secpho, along with the companies Medioambiental Valledor SL, Dronomy SL, and the Córdoba firm, combining capabilities in engineering, artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensing, and industrial safety.

The purpose of this group was to research and develop an intelligent system that integrated computer vision, inertial sensors (IMU), and advanced dynamic stability prediction algorithms to analyze in real time both the behavior of the vehicle and the characteristics of the terrain, as explained by Cosigein.

Thanks to this technological combination, the designed solution is capable of generating preventive alerts when it detects conditions that may compromise the stability of the machinery, providing the operator with information that facilitates safer decision-making and helps reduce the risk of rollover.

The Córdoba company, with more than 20 years of experience in industrial safety, has contributed essentially thanks to its own research line, initiated in 2009 and focused on the issue of rollover accidents, both in agroforestry machinery and in industrial vehicles.

Throughout this trajectory, Cosigein has developed electronic systems based on its own algorithms for rollover prevention and has accumulated deep knowledge of the variables involved in the dynamics of stability of this type of vehicle.

Anticipate the risk of rollover and warn the operator

Within the framework of this project, Cosigein has been responsible for researching and developing algorithms for predicting static and dynamic stability based on inertial measurement units (IMU). In addition, it has carried out multisensor integration, embedded software for controlling critical systems, and communication protocols, which allow anticipating the risk of overturning and transferring the alert to the operator in real time.

"Anticipating the overturning before it occurs represents a qualitative leap compared to conventional safety systems: it is not just about reacting, but about predicting," says the technical manager of the project on behalf of Cosigein, José Manuel López, who values that "this project has allowed us to take our dynamic stability algorithms to one of the most demanding environments, the agroforestry sector, and validate a technology directly transferable to other sectors such as construction, mining, or defense."

Developed within the framework of the Support Program for Innovative Business Groups (AEI) of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, the project has generated a solution with a high potential for transfer and an example of the value that collaboration between companies and agents of the innovation ecosystem brings to developing technologies that improve safety, competitiveness, and the digital transformation of the industry.
