The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, announced this Saturday that the regional Executive has made available to the livestock farms affected by the fire a total of 300,000 kilos of forage, organized in 20 trailers, in addition to 10 water tanks of 1,000 liters, which will be supplied as soon as it is possible to access the different areas safely.
According to the statement issued by the regional Government, so far 14 livestock farms have processed the request for this aid, which will reach nearly 1,000 animals, including cattle, sheep, goats, and horses.
The priority in attending to these animals and the need to open access to agricultural and livestock facilities located in areas already free of flames, while the firefighting tasks continued, have allowed access to these farms while ensuring the safety of people at all times.
With the aim of protecting these properties and preventing possible thefts, starting this Sunday it will be essential to present a document that certifies the current ownership of a livestock farm —such as the livestock card, registration in the General Register of Livestock Farms (REGA), or the application for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)— in order to enter the farms where access is restricted.
This decision is made after cases of impersonation of the professional condition of livestock farmer were detected and aims to strengthen entry controls to the areas affected by the fire, while ensuring the transit of owners and their mobility under safe conditions.
At the same time, several animals have been transferred to the Comprehensive Animal Reception Center (CIAAM) of the Community of Madrid, while the regional Government maintains a "close collaboration" with the shelters of the affected municipalities to ensure the welfare of companion animals, it has assured.
