The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing, and Food, Òscar Ordeig, has announced a new call for aid endowed with 39.6 million euros aimed at irrigation communities, with the objective of promoting the modernization and optimization of collective irrigation networks.
This line of subsidies is part of the Irrigation Strategy 2025-2040, and applications can be processed over a period of 4 months from the day after the official publication of the call, as detailed by the Generalitat in a statement released this Friday.
From Cervera (Lleida), within the framework of the visit to the Infotruck of the Government Plan in the territory, Ordeig emphasized that the modernization of irrigation "is a country investment," since it makes it possible to produce more and better using less water, strengthens the competitiveness of agricultural operations, and prepares the sector to face the impacts of climate change.
The aid aimed at comprehensive modernization can reach up to 3.5 million euros per irrigation community, while punctual improvement interventions can apply for a maximum of 70,000 euros.
In the case that a single application includes both modalities, the maximum subsidizable ceiling will be set at 3.57 million euros.
The call will support projects in two major categories: on one hand, the comprehensive modernization of irrigation, which includes the replacement of gravity networks with pressurized networks or the deep renewal of already existing irrigation systems; and, on the other, actions for improvement and modernization of collective networks that allow for increased efficiency, water savings, and intelligent management of irrigation.
