ERC has expressed its satisfaction this Friday with the Supreme Court's decision to apply the Amnesty Law to four former members of the Parliament Board, including its former president Roger Torrent, and has demanded that this same path be made effective "in the rest of the cases".
In a statement, the party maintains that this is the path that must be followed "to restore all political rights of all the persecuted people, so that the exiles can return home and be able to discuss politics and democratically about the conflict between Catalunya and the Spanish State without repression".
After celebrating the Supreme Court's resolution regarding a case "that was nonsense from the beginning", they emphasize that it is essential to be able to raise debates and protect the political rights of the deputies without it leading to reprisals.
For the republicans, the application of the amnesty confirms the strategy they have defended over these years and they remind that, after the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union, it was "inevitable that, finally, the Supreme Court would do what it should have done from the first day".
In a message on X reported by Europa Press, the deputy general secretary of Organization, Finance, and Anti-repressive Struggle of ERC, Pau Morales, considers the step taken by the Supreme Court to be especially relevant and demands the full application of the amnesty, the complete restoration of rights, and "to allow the return of the exiles" so that politics can return to the forefront.
