The Board of the Permanent Deputation of the Parliament of Andalusia has given the green light to a temporary economic allocation for 64 former parliamentarians, a benefit known as "cesantía," which totals 1.053 million euros.

Following the dissolution of the Parliament of the XII Legislature on March 24 by the call for regional elections on May 17, during the month of April these 64 deputies registered their request for the right to receive said allocation to be recognized under the terms established by current regulations.

According to the documentation of the agreement of the Board of the Permanent Deputation to which Europa Press has had access, the total number of deputies who have submitted the request amounts to 64, of whom 22 have regained a seat in the elections of May 17. If they finally take possession of their seat in the XIII Legislature, they will be excluded from receiving the "cesantía." Consequently, those who will be able to avail themselves of this benefit for not being re-elected in the new Chamber that will be constituted on June 11 are 42.

The agreement of the Board of the Permanent Deputation was adopted on May 11, in the midst of the Andalusian election campaign.

According to the information table consulted by Europa Press, among these 64 parliamentarians are 32 from PP-A, 20 from PSOE-A, 9 from Vox, and 3 from Por Andalucía.

As for the 22 deputies who requested the "cesantía" but were ultimately re-elected in last Sunday's elections, 9 belong to PP-A, 6 to PSOE-A, and 5 to Vox.

The Parliament's internal regulation on "cesantías" establishes that the loss of the status of deputy due to the expiration of the mandate upon its term ending or due to the dissolution of the Chamber, or due to resignation, generates, upon request of the interested party, the right to a temporary economic allocation equivalent to one month's salary for each year of continuous service or fraction equal to or greater than six months, with a minimum of three and a maximum of twelve months' salary.

Continuous service will be understood to have occurred in the case of those deputies who, upon the end of their mandate due to its term ending or the dissolution of the Chamber, do not form part of the Permanent Deputation and immediately obtain the status of deputy in the following elections, as well as, in general, in all cases where the interruption in the performance of the office of deputy has been less than two months.

All of this shall apply without prejudice to the fact that, in order to avoid double payment, the temporary economic allowances that may have been received by deputies who have not been part of the Permanent Deputation, upon the conclusion of their term due to expiration of its term or dissolution of the Chamber, shall be counted for the purposes of the maximum limit of twelve monthly payments contemplated in the first paragraph of this section.

The monthly amount of the severance pay shall be fixed at the equivalent of the fixed and periodic remuneration effectively received in the last complete ordinary payroll accrued, including salary and, where applicable, the position supplement, the triennial increments, and the rest of the payments referred to in the second paragraph of the consolidated text of the regulations governing the remuneration and compensation of the deputies of the Parliament of Andalusia.

On the other hand, if at the time of losing the status of deputy, fixed and periodic remuneration from the Andalusian Parliament is not received, the amount of the allowance shall correspond to the basic monthly salary of the deputies, without supplements. Heirs shall not be able to claim this benefit in the event of the beneficiary's death. The right to severance pay, which accrues monthly, shall be extinguished when, within the period of receipt, the former deputy takes up another job or engages in paid activity in the private sector, or on the date on which their incorporation or reincorporation into public sector employment takes effect economically.

The most reduced severance pay approved by the Bureau of the Deputation amounts to 1,809.46 euros (12 days) for the former PSOE-A deputy Isabel María Aguilera, while the highest amount corresponds to the former socialist deputy Jacinto Viedma, with 57,228.60 euros (11 monthly payments).

The majority of the amounts granted are in a range from 11,991.66 euros (three monthly payments) to 16,740.28 euros (four monthly payments).
