The PSOE top candidate for Congress from Zaragoza, Fernando Beltrán, warned this Sunday that "the right has once again resurrected the Ebro transfer" and reiterated his outright opposition to the idea that the water "becomes a bargaining chip" in the agreements between PP and Vox. He stressed that the socialists will prevent any attempt to resume the transfer project. "In the face of Azcón's applause for the transfer, on 29N we will stop them in their tracks," he emphasized.

Beltrán delivered this message during a visit to the defense works against flooding from the Ebro in the municipality of Torres de Berrellén (Zaragoza), an initiative funded with 2.8 million euros, within the framework of the European initiative Ebro Resilience.

The candidate defended a model of water management supported by technological innovation and sustainability, and highlighted the investments promoted by the Executive of Pedro Sánchez, co-financed with European funds, aimed at strengthening the protection of municipalities along the riverbank.

The mayor of Torres de Berrellén, Mercedes Trébol, highlighted that this is an intervention long demanded by the town and acknowledged the backing of the socialist Governments of Spain and Aragón to be able to carry it out.

"My town no longer suffers when it sees the river growing," she said, stressing that defense against flooding is key to settling people and ensuring the future of the rural environment.
