The Environment and Tourism Commission of the Cortes of Aragón has addressed this afternoon a non-legislative proposal aimed at demanding the Aragonese Government the immediate implementation of direct economic aid for hunting societies and managers of hunting grounds located in the areas affected by the forest fires of 2026. The initiative also proposed applying exemptions or discounts on regional fees to those who have seen their activity paralyzed or seriously reduced. The proposal, defended by the socialist Carlos Ros, has ultimately been rejected with votes against from PP and Vox.

During his speech, the PSOE parliamentarian Carlos Ros emphasized that hunting activity in Aragón "is not a sporting pastime, but an economic engine for our territory" and stressed that the management of the hunting grounds is mainly in the hands of non-profit hunting associations. "We need the Government of Aragón to immediately activate a line of aid to guarantee the viability of these groups and the swift recovery of our mountains," he demanded.

The PP deputy Luis José Arrechea acknowledged the existence of the problem, although he insisted that "first, it is necessary to identify what needs are left uncovered to avoid duplicities." In this line, he specified that the regional Executive "is already implementing all these issues."

On behalf of Vox, Sergio Marco expressed his support for the hunting societies that are truly harmed and pointed out that they will only support this type of measures to activate aid when "they are technically justified, no automatism." In his opinion, there is already an effective system to compensate for these types of situations.

On behalf of CHA, Jorge Pueyo has shown himself in favor of enabling this support with the aim of "repairing the damage caused by fire and supporting those who sustain our mountain and our territory." Furthermore, he warned that "the animals that have survived these fires have been left without resources or shelter, the paths deteriorate every week that passes and help is not arriving."

For Tomás Guitarte, from Aragón-Teruel Existe, the debate responds to "a very specific sectoral issue," since "the hunting societies are paying fees and charges for some hunting grounds that will not be able to be used this year" because 2026 "has been one of the worst in terms of fires in the Community," he recalled.
