The full Parliament has given the green light to a request to the Government to analyze the available legal avenues that allow intervention in the price of commercial rental spaces, with the aim of curbing real estate speculation on these spaces and preventing the "expulsion" of local commerce.

The measure is part of a point of a motion by the CUP on the tourism model debated this Thursday, which has gone ahead with the support of PSC-Units, ERC, the Comuns, and the CUP, while Junts, PP, Vox, and Aliança Catalana voted against.

In another section of the motion, it has been approved to promote policies to recover tourist housing and allocate it to public housing, protected or with affordable prices, in addition to collaborating with municipalities to prevent the renewal of tourist housing licenses.

On the contrary, other initiatives from the 'cupaires' have been rejected, including the closure of terminals A, B, and C of the Port of Barcelona and the termination of the concession of terminal D, as well as the proposal to establish a moratorium on the construction of hotels and other tourist accommodations in municipalities "with excess supply."

The point that simultaneously proposed to strengthen the role of the Generalitat in the management of the airport system of Catalunya and to immediately halt "any plan for physical expansion" of the Barcelona Airport has also not gone ahead.
