The organizers of the camp set up in the Setas de la Encarnación have issued a call for "all the people who can" to come along to spend the night or the afternoon, with the intention of stopping possible attempts at forced eviction and keeping the protest at this point, at least, until the General Strike of November 11.
In a statement released on its Instagram profile and consulted by Europa Press, and after the recent withdrawal of the camp from Plaza del Sol in Madrid in a "surprising and violent" manner, the group that remains in Seville has stressed that it does not plan to leave Plaza de la Encarnación and that its purpose is "to continue as a space for political projection with a view to the struggle for housing and above all with a view to the General Strike."
"Throughout the day we need all the people who can come, to stay or to spend the night or the afternoon, in order to provide a presence, and also because we consider it essential to take advantage of the media momentum of the possible dismantling of the camp to give space to social projects in the city," the statement concluded.
In this context, the mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, has offered to the Subdelegation of the Government the collaboration of the Grupo de Acción Rápida (GAR) and the Local Police with the aim of clearing the area and allowing the installation of the Christmas lights, going so far as to claim that the housing demands put forward by the campers "are a big lie."
Meanwhile, sources from the Subdelegation of the Government have said that, for now, "there are no updates" regarding a possible eviction of the camp.
