The president of the municipal group of the PP in the Barcelona City Council, Daniel Sirera, has called for an "urgent" meeting of all council groups following the murder of a man on Balmes street on Wednesday morning.

Sirera pointed out in a message on 'X' that this meeting should serve "to respond to the inaction" of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, and the mayor, Jaume Collboni. "Another homicide in broad daylight. That makes 7 in just two months. This time in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi," he lamented.

The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the death of the man murdered this morning, who reportedly received at least one shot on Wednesday around 10:00 AM on the central Balmes street in Barcelona, according to police sources told Europa Press.

The Catalan police received the alert at 9:50 AM, warning of the presence of a deceased person in the public street, a fact that the agents verified upon arriving at the scene.

The incident took place at the intersection of Balmes street and Travessera de Gràcia, and the Divisió d'Investigació Criminal has launched an investigation to clarify what happened.

On Tuesday, the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, called for "more police and harsher sentences" in response to the increase in deaths linked to drug trafficking and organized crime, following two murders with firearms registered in less than a month in the Zona Franca, the last one on Sunday night on Mineria street.
