The general secretary of the PSOE in Algeciras (Cádiz), Rocío Arrabal, has valued that the mayor, José Ignacio Landaluce, has announced his resignation and has emphasized that "it is the best news in years for the city, for democratic hygiene and for respect for the victims," although she has criticized that "he is leaving being pushed, late, with two complaints filed, with lies and without political dignity."

Arrabal has pointed out to the media that "everything that is happening is the result of his inappropriate behaviors," and has noted that these facts could already be "read in the WhatsApp screenshots and now in the complaints."

In the same vein, she has stressed that the PSOE "always had it very clear, these are very serious facts and could not look the other way" and "that is why it took it to the courts and made it public at the time."

It is worth remembering that the mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce, announced this Monday that he will leave the mayor's office next Sunday, October 25, thus avoiding submitting to the motion of censure registered by the PP and Vox, which was scheduled to take place three days later, on October 28.

In a video disseminated on his social networks and collected by Europa Press, Landaluce has expressed that this motion "forces" him to submit his resignation as mayor, insisting that the facts attributed to him, related to alleged sexual assaults on two PP militants, are "false." "In the face of a great setup with unjust attacks, I will defend myself before justice, I will fight to show my innocence and I hope that those who have made this whole setup can be held accountable," he has asserted.
