Elis, an international company specializing in circular rental and maintenance services for textile products, hygiene, and well-being, has today inaugurated its new industrial plant Elis Madrid Sur – Illescas, a strategic infrastructure with which the company reinforces its growth in Spain and consolidates its industrial and technological commitment in Castilla-La Mancha.
The inauguration was attended by the Mayor of Illescas, José Manuel Tofiño Pérez, as well as institutional representatives, clients, collaborators, and company executives, including Mathieu Chapelle, General Manager of Elis Spain, and François Boissinot, Regional Director of Elis.
The new facility represents an investment of 14 million euros and is located on a plot of 28,000 square meters, with 5,500 square meters built. The plant will be primarily specialized in circular solutions for workwear rental and maintenance for industrial and service companies, although it will also support other Elis business lines such as sanitary hygiene, mats, water coolers, or linen for small businesses.
The opening of Illescas is part of the industrial growth and modernization plan that Elis is developing in Spain, where the company continues to strengthen its operational, logistical, and technological capacity to support its clients' growth and respond to the increasing demand for more efficient and sustainable solutions. This boost is part of a global investment plan exceeding 80 million euros in the Spanish market.
"This plant represents much more than an expansion of industrial capacity. It reflects our long-term vision in Spain and our commitment to a more efficient, technological, and sustainable industrial model," stated Mathieu Chapelle, General Manager of Elis Spain. "Illescas brings together key strategic elements for Elis: a location with strong logistical and industrial capacity, availability of talent, operational proximity, and solid institutional collaboration."
One of the main differentiating elements of the new plant is its technological component and its focus on resource efficiency. The facility incorporates advanced automation and traceability systems, a double production line (Standard Line and Fast Line), intelligent garment sorting, and automated folding and hanging solutions, optimizing both operational capacity and service quality and reliability.
Furthermore, the plant has been designed under criteria of industrial efficiency and sustainability, incorporating water recovery and reuse systems capable of reusing approximately one-third of the water used in washing processes, "Zero Steam" technology (without the use of steam or thermal oil), and a 47 kWp solar panel installation aimed at optimizing the center's energy consumption.
This model responds to Elis's global strategy based on the circular economy and the "product as a service" model, through the rental, maintenance, reuse, and recycling of textile and hygiene products. Currently, 86% of the group's global turnover comes from this circular service model.
National growth plan and commitment to Castilla-La Mancha
The new plant also emerges with a clear vocation for stable job creation and territorial roots. Elis plans to reach 65 direct jobs in a first phase, 110 in a second stage, and up to 250 direct jobs within approximately five years.
The choice of Castilla-La Mancha also responds to Elis's consolidated industrial presence in the region, where the company already has other facilities in Yeles, Almansa, Guadalajara, and Almoguera, in addition to the activity of Elis Pest Control. With this new opening, the company strengthens the strategic Madrid-Toledo corridor and expands its service capacity for industrial, logistics, retail, and service sectors in the peninsular center.
With the opening, Elis has more than 4,400 employees in Spain, 39 production and distribution centers, and more than 14,000 clients. The company develops services mainly linked to industrial laundry, workwear, sanitary hygiene, mats, water dispensers, and pest control.
