Amazon.com, the American giant of e-commerce, has surpassed this Monday for the first time the threshold of 3 trillion dollars (2.6 trillion euros) in market capitalization, becoming the fifth company in the world to reach this milestone, after Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Alphabet.
Moments after the start of the session on Wall Street, Amazon.com shares rose by up to 5.75%, allowing the company founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 to place its stock value around 3.07 trillion dollars (2.66 trillion euros).
With this new maximum, Amazon.com has needed just over two years to add another trillion dollars to its market valuation. The company first crossed the 2 trillion dollar mark (1.7 trillion euros) on June 26, 2024, after having reached a capitalization of 1 trillion dollars (866.980 billion euros) in September 2018.
Despite the fact that so far this year Amazon.com has accumulated a revaluation close to 26%, the most intense rise has occurred since last Thursday, when it presented its quarterly results at the market close, chaining an advance of around 20% in just two sessions.
In the second quarter of 2026, the multinational recorded a net profit of 62.647 billion dollars (54.313 billion euros), representing a year-on-year increase of 245%. Revenue increased by 19.6%, to 200.606 billion dollars (173.921 billion euros), driven by a 37% growth in AWS revenues, the fastest expansion rate of this division in 18 quarters.
In the first half of 2026, Amazon.com obtained a net profit of 92.902 billion dollars (80.544 billion euros), 163% more than in the same period of the previous year, while its revenues advanced by 18.2%, to 382.125 billion dollars (331.294 billion euros).
