The First Vice President and Minister of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, Carlos Cuerpo, and the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, have signed this Tuesday at the headquarters of the Ministry, in Madrid, the agreement that formalizes the implementation in Valencia of the IMF Technological Center in Spain.
"It is recognition of its technological potential, which will drive innovation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity," the head of the Economy Ministry said in a message published on the social network 'X', collected by Europa Press.
After the signing of the agreements with the central Government and with the Valencian Generalitat, the IMF Center will move to support the organization’s global operations through information technology services, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and other advanced technological services.
As the Executive has explained in a statement, this new infrastructure will make it possible to strengthen the IMF’s technological capabilities and support its activities for the benefit of member countries around the planet.
The Generalitat will hand over to the international organization the historic Palacio de Calatayud in order to house the new technological headquarters, the regional administration has indicated. It is a building from the early 20th century, located on Micalet Street, whose rehabilitation is facing its final phase and is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
The center will begin its activities progressively, gradually increasing its operating capacity and the number of professionals that make up it.
