The president of the Fundación Libertad y Desarrollo, the Guatemalan Dionisio Gutiérrez, and the top executive of BTG Pactual, the Brazilian André Esteves, have been honored this Wednesday with the Enrique V. Iglesias Prize, which has been presented to them by King Felipe VI and which is awarded by the Consejo Empresarial Alianza por Iberoamérica (Ceapi).

This award, which bears the name of the first Ibero-American secretary general and current honorary president of Ceapi, recognizes the business career of Gutiérrez and Esteves, as well as their contribution to economic development, productive investment, and the strengthening of the business fabric in the Ibero-American sphere.

At the ceremony, members of Ceapi’s board of directors were present, headed by its president, Núria Vilanova, and its secretary general, Ana Pastor, along with various international institutional authorities, including the president of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo, and the head of government of Andorra, Xavier Espot.

During his address, Gutiérrez has stated: "Ibero-America is not what it seems to be today. It is, above all, what it can still become. Its future will depend on the emergence of founding figures willing to raise it up, citizens determined to sustain it, capable businesspeople able to finance it, and honest intellectuals to think it through".

For his part, Esteves has emphasized that the recognition entails "a symbolism of Ibero-American integration, which is one of the benefits of globalization. We promote that integration, very important for our society".
