Enerside has received the necessary environmental authorization to build a 62.8 MW photovoltaic plant and a 15 MW battery storage system in Sicily (Italy), as the company announced this Thursday.
The firm estimates it will allocate around 47 million euros to this initiative, which "represents a clear example of the agrivoltaic model with battery storage" that the company is developing in Italy.
Thanks to the battery system, energy produced during peak solar radiation hours can be stored for nighttime use, "helping to avoid the generation of electricity from non-renewable energy sources such as gas."
Following this milestone, the project now faces the processing of the "Autoritzacione Única" (AU), the permit immediately preceding the final objective, the so-called RTB status, a necessary step before closing financing and executing the construction of the park.
In addition, Enerside has obtained the so-called "benestare" from the system operator (Terna) for a total of 575 MW associated with four projects in its portfolio located in the regions of Sardinia, Sicily, and Puglia.
