Ferrovial has appointed John L. Morton, formerly of Global Infrastructure Partners (Blackrock), as the new CEO of its airports division, a change that will take effect from September 2026.

Morton will take over from Luke Bugeja, who is stepping down after more than five years with the company. However, Bugeja will continue in his current position until his retirement in November, in order to support the process and ensure an orderly transition, according to the infrastructure company's statement.

"I am pleased to welcome John to Ferrovial's management committee. His extensive experience in transport infrastructure, aviation, and public-private partnerships will be key to continuing to strengthen Ferrovial Airports and deliver long-term value to our stakeholders," said Ferrovial's CEO, Ignacio Madridejos, who also thanked Bugeja for his work.

Before joining Ferrovial, Morton was a managing director at GIP, where he launched and led the Transport team for the Americas region. Previously, he held the position of investment banking director at Credit Suisse, in both the London and New York offices.

Morton holds a degree in Psychology and a certificate in Marketing and Management from Duke University (USA), as well as an MBA from the London Business School.
