Finnair plans to strengthen its presence in the Japanese market during the summer of 2027 with an increase in frequencies to Tokyo, which will allow it to operate up to three daily flights between Helsinki and the capital of Japan during the peak demand months. During this period, the airline will offer up to two daily links with Narita Airport and one daily flight to Haneda.
With this reinforcement of Narita, the company will reach its historical maximum of operations between Helsinki and Tokyo for the upcoming summer season, with schedules designed to facilitate connections for travelers departing from Japan to Finnair's European network.
In this way, the airline will increase its operations with Japan from the 28 weekly flights it has scheduled this summer to a total of 32 flights per week during the summer season of 2027.
Finnair's Revenue Director, Christine Rovelli, has emphasized that Japan is the company's main market after Finland and has pointed out that the demand for flights to the country remains strong, so the increase in frequencies to Narita will allow for "a greater variety and even more convenient connections" with Tokyo.
Finnair's Operations in Japan
Currently, Finnair maintains regular flights to Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, and Osaka throughout the year. In addition, during the summer season, it connects Helsinki with Nagoya, a route where the company continues to be the only European airline operating direct flights.
The additional flight to Tokyo Narita will be available between May 12 and August 14, 2027, with some exceptions on the specific dates indicated by the airline.
