The board of directors of HBX Group International agreed at its meeting yesterday to appoint Carlos Muñoz as the company’s new chief executive officer, effective as of next December 1. Muñoz will take over from Nicolas Huss, who retired last September 30 and whose duties had been assumed on a provisional basis by the finance director, Brendan Brennan.

Muñoz, cofounder of HBX Group, has more than 26 years of experience in the travel industry and has held various senior executive positions within the company, including those of deputy CEO, commercial director, operations director, and general director.

The executive was appointed to the board of directors as a non-executive director at the annual general meeting of shareholders held on February 12 of this year. With his new responsibility, he will continue to be part of the company’s highest governing body, moving into the role of executive director.

According to a communication sent to the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV), the company emphasizes that the appointment of the new CEO comes after an “exhaustive” search process led by the board itself, with the aim of finding the “right leader” for the next phase of expansion of HBX Group.

The company’s chairman, James Bilefield, has stated that Carlos is an “exceptional leader” with a deep understanding of HBX Group, its teams, and the markets in which it operates. He has also highlighted that his ability to combine technology, data, and business strategy will be “especially important” in a context in which “artificial intelligence generates new opportunities in the travel sector.”

For his part, Muñoz described the opportunity to take the lead of the company as “a great privilege,” highlighting the “exceptional” team at HBX Group, its strong relationships with international clients and partners, and its reference position in B2B technology for the travel sector.

“As artificial intelligence and digital innovation transform our sector, my goal is to leverage our technological solutions, our data capabilities, and the talent of our teams to accelerate the execution of our strategy, generate new growth opportunities, and create long-term value for our business partners and shareholders,” he added.
