Iberia Express will increase the number of available seats by 12% during the winter season, which will run until next March 27. During that same period, it will also increase the number of flights by 7% compared with the 2025 winter schedule.
The low-cost subsidiary of the Iberia group will focus the expansion on its routes to the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, where it will increase capacity by 38% and 29%, respectively. With this, it seeks to improve connectivity for residents and help reduce seasonality in the flow of tourists in both archipelagos.
"We continue to strengthen the air bridge with the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands and improve connectivity for residents and visitors to both archipelagos with a very robust flight program throughout the year, which offers the best schedules and a lot of flexibility for frequent travelers, and excellent connections for the arrival of tourists in winter," the commercial director of Iberia Express, Isabel Rodríguez, has said.
In the case of the Balearic Islands, Iberia Express will add 827,000 seats and operate nearly 200 weekly flights between Madrid and the islands. The airline will schedule up to 12 daily frequencies per direction between Madrid and Mallorca and up to six between the capital and Ibiza, spread out throughout the day to facilitate both travel to the mainland and connections with international destinations.
In the Canary Islands, the company has planned more than 1.7 million seats, which represents 29% more than in 2025, supported by a 25% increase in flights and greater use of its Airbus A321neo. In total, it will operate 386 weekly flights with the archipelago, with an average of ten flights per direction to Gran Canaria and another ten with Tenerife.
In the rest of the islands, Iberia Express will offer between three and four daily flights per direction between Madrid and Lanzarote, between two and three with Fuerteventura and one frequency with La Palma, which will be reinforced with a second flight per direction in the weeks with the highest demand.
International boost and return of the route to Reykjavik
In the international market, the largest capacity growth will be concentrated in Dublin and Marrakech. The route to Ireland’s capital will increase by 46%, reaching 79,000 seats, while the connection with the Moroccan city will rise by 43%, to 100,000.
In addition, Iberia Express will resume at the end of February its seasonal route with Reykjavik, which will begin flying on February 27. This direct connection from Madrid will make it possible to travel to Iceland in winter to enjoy its snowy landscapes and multiply the options for seeing the northern lights.
This increase in capacity will be made possible, among other aspects, thanks to a more intensive use of the Airbus A321neo, the most efficient aircraft in its fleet, with capacity for 232 passengers.
